More News on OCLC/RLG Merger

Dear RLG Members,

We have recently updated with additonal information the Frequently Asked Questions document that covers issues regarding the RLG Proposal to Combine with OCLC. In particular, the updated document provides more detailed answers about the future of RLG services, the RLG Union Catalog and RLIN21.

We hope that this new information will reassure members that both organizations are committed to making the integration of services successful for all users. We are giving special attention to the variety of special functions and capabilities in RLG services that are especially
valued by research institutions.

In the updated FAQ there's also additional information about the RLG Programs group that will emerge in the new OCLC Programs and Research division. Again we know that there are RLG programmatic efforts that are highly valued by our members and we're working to ensure those move forward in the new environment. The planning for the new division is moving forward
in parallel with the service integration planning.

As we develop more concrete plans in both areas - services and programs - this document will be updated with the latest information. We'll alert you about any substantive updates.
