Library Trial: Opera in Video

Dear Colleagues,

USC Libraries has a trial subscription to Opera in Video, the newest offering from Alexander Street Press.

Here is their description of the database:
"Opera in Video will contain 250 of the most important opera performances, captured on video through staged productions, interviews, and documentaries. Selections represent the world's best performers, conductors, and opera houses and are based on a work's importance to the operatic canon. This release includes 40 videos, equaling 80 hours."

They have authorized all IP addresses that they have on file for our institution.

The trial lasts until August 9, 2008.

There are some great features, including choice of subtitles in five languages, ability to make clips that have their own permanent urls, and the ability to make your own playlists. Please play around with it and give me your feedback if this is something you'd like to see offered in the future. Also, let me know if you're having trouble accessing the database.

Best,
Stephanie
