Portico Agreement with Edinburgh University Press

Portico is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with Edinburgh University Press to preserve its online collection of 30 journals. Edinburgh University Press, founded over 50 years ago, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University of Edinburgh, and has a reputation for publishing high-quality books and journals in the humanities and social sciences.

Through this agreement with Portico, Edinburgh University Press furthers its preservation strategy. Since 2003, the Press has worked with JSTOR to provide a trusted archive the back issues of Africa and Dance Research: The Journal of the Society for Dance Research and through Portico, it provides for the ongoing preservation of its electronic current issues. Working in collaboration, JSTOR, Portico and Edinburgh University Press also intend to include the born-digital versions of the Press' titles in JSTOR in accordance with the moving wall.

As part of the agreement, Edinburgh University Press will make an annual financial contribution to Portico and has named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims on behalf of the journals it owns.

With the inclusion of the EUP publications, over 7,400 titles have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of titles is available at http://www.portico.org/about/committed_titles_alpha.html and a list of participating publishers is available at http://www.portico.org/about/part_publishers.html.
