Proquest new release

Dear ProQuest Customer,

The next ProQuest release is scheduled for June 11th . To perform the changes, we are scheduling a maintenance window during a low-usage period. The maintenance window will begin Saturday June 11, 2005 at 22:00 EDT (02:00 GMT) and end Sunday June 12th at 02:00 EDT (06:00 GMT). (See below for more detail.)

This release will have exciting new enhancements including:

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses and ABI/INFORM Global databases will now support browsing dissertations by subject and location

Enhancements to our "More like this" feature making it easier to find and use.
• The feature will be displayed automatically at the bottom of the article page and will always be open
• A link to More like this will be added to the top of the full text article page to further promote this feature
Author Profiles Enhancement - Profiles that include dissertations will be hyperlinked to the best available format for that dissertation.
Two new citations styles will be available: Harvard and Vancouver.
• Harvard is an author-date style similar to Chicago/Turabian
• Vancouver will be listed as a new option
To enhance support for our customers outside of the United States, ProQuest will add four new interface languages
• Italian
• Russian
• Polish
• Norwegian
As well as ten new article translation languages bringing the total number of languages to twelve
• Spanish
• Portuguese
• French
• German
• Italian
• Russian
• Polish
• Chinese-simplified
• Chinese-traditional
• Japanese
• Korean
• Turkish
My Research Summary and the Marked List page will be combined into a single feature called My Research. The tab at the top of every page will be updated to display a single “My Research” selection. The search results page has also been updated so the My Research options (Email/Cite/Export) will be added to the “yellow bar” above the first result.

EDUCAUSE Webcast!

Received this announcement today:
On June 15, EDUCAUSE is offering a free webcast (advance registration required, however) featuring Reg Carr from Oxford and John Price Wilken from the University of Michigan speaking out the progress of the Google digitization programs at those institutions. Both of these speakers gave outstanding presentations as part of the five-institution panel on the Google project at the CNI Spring 2005 Task Force Meeting recently, and I highly reccomend them for anyone who wants to get a better understanding of the project and its broader implications.
For more information, and to register, visit http://www.educause.edu/LIVE0512/
I suggest registering early, as EDUCAUSE actually limits registration for these events.

Take the Project MUSE survey

Here is the info:
Dear Colleagues and Customers,

Project MUSE® (http://muse.jhu.edu), a collection of 270 distinguished peer-reviewed journals in the humanities and social sciences from nearly 60 not-for-profit publishers, invites your participation in a web-based survey on enhancing our functionality, interface, and navigation. The survey web site is http://muse.jhu.edu/survey.

Please complete the survey by Tuesday, June 21, 2005.

We are sending invitations to Project MUSE subscribing libraries, but we also invite colleagues and prospective customers to respond. Multiple responses from individuals in differing roles at the same library are welcome. Please share this invitation with interested colleagues, since one individual may not be the best person to respond to every question.

The survey will take 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how many comments you choose to make.  You may work on the survey in several sessions.  It will save your place if you wish to exit and return, provided no one else accesses the survey from the same browser.

Those who complete the survey and include an email address will be entered into a drawing for five gift certificates of $50 each to Amazon.com.

For academic libraries in the United States, the survey will ask for your institution's Carnegie Classification.  If you would like to look it up before beginning, please follow this link: http://www.carnegiefoundation.org/Classification/.

The CQ Library is a subscription-only service that provides Web access to two of CQ's premier print publications, the CQ Weekly and The CQ Researcher. It's a fulltext resource. FYI: the Resource of the Month can always be found linked on the right hand column of the electronic resources page.

Some Firstsearch Databases Access Problems

We are having some problems with our per-search databases that show a message saying the we are out of searches. We have bought more searches and the databases should have been reactivated already. They will be back online soon.
