Minor update to IEEE Xplore online systems coming 31 August.

On Wednesday, 31 August, IEEE will implement a minor maintenance release to
the IEEE Xplore online delivery system.


As a result, users will experience approximately two hours of downtime on
that date, between 10AM and 12PM.


This update includes the following changes:


* The fielded search option in Advanced Search will be amended to
maintain a consistent order of precedence when users search multiple
fields, regardless of the operators chosen.


* Session history will now display the full search query when the
query runs longer than one line.


* The tables of contents for Journals and Magazines will be
reorganized to make the ephemera list (such as editorial boards,
announcements, and author resources) easier for users to find.


* Standards metadata will display both the print and electronic ISBN
numbers.


* Search results for books will display media type, edition, and ISBN.

Issues with Emerald Insight

This is an IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT regarding the launch of Emerald’s new
web site for product and service delivery.

+ Issues with Emerald Insight

Since we launched the new Emerald website a few issues regarding
performance and authentication on the site have come to light. We are
working on resolving these problems as a matter of urgency. The issues are
explained below:

+ Athens
We are aware that Athens authentication on the new site has not been
working correctly. We believe that this bug has now been fixed but if
anyone at your institution is still experiencing problems please email us
at mailto:support@emeraldinsight.com.

+ Browse
We found that the browse form was causing the speed of the website to slow
down considerably. We have now removed the browse form until the issues
are resolved. We expect this to be resolved in the next 2 to 4 weeks. In
the meantime, browse functionality is available from the old website at
http://old.emeraldinsight.com.

+ Authentication
We are also working to resolve some performance issues with our
authentication code. In the meantime, once your users have been
authenticated, they will be able to access all of our content, regardless
of the products your institution actually subscribes to.

+ Usage Statistics
We are in the process of migrating all the usage data from the old site
onto Insight. This cannot be completed until after all users have ceased
to use the old service. Until usage statistics are functioning on the new
site, you may continue to access reports for your institution via:

+ Linking
Although we have done our utmost to ensure that URLs that worked on the
old service will continue to work on the new service, this has not been
possible for all cases. We have found that some customers have been using
links that we did not promote as being persistent. Please see
http://www.emeraldinsight.com/librariantoolkit for more information about
supported URLS for linking to Emerald’s products and services.

+ General speed
Initially there were some problems with slow performance of the new
website but we have taken steps to correct this and believe that the
service is performing well. If you do experience problems with slow

detail as you can provide.

Scholars Portal availablity

Our vendor is in the process of upgrading the software for the Scholars Portal this week, so you may encounter problems with the software over the next couple of days. If you do, please send email to me, dhwong@usc.edu and I will forward problems to our vendor for resolution.

When the upgrade is complete, you will see the following improvements to the system:

Open URL links will be available to a select number of our providers (Proquest, Thompson, BioOne, Kluwer/Springer, Wiley, JSTOR, ACM, Ingenta, & Project Muse) I'm trying to resolve configuration and other issues with our other providers) as well as Homer.

Some of the profiles will have collections arranged in subject hierarchies within the profiles to make reviewing by subject within a profile easier.

You can now filter by date either using the Advanced Search or after an initial search.

You can sort full-text items (those with 856 fields and OpenURL links) so that they appear together at the top of a list.

Based on usability testing and the fact that we don't really offer the services in the way they were originally intended, we've removed some choices off the left nav bar (Link Builder, Account Details, Saved Searches, Search Profiles). We've also removed the Links to Additional Resources at the bottom of the page, because it was confusing to users. We've limited the number of choices in advanced search to author, title, subject and keyword. We're hoping this makes the interface a little easier to use.

Welcome to the ProQuest Business Content Update mailing list. CSA Illumina Enhancements

Dear CSA Customers,

We are pleased to announce the following recent enhancements to the CSA Illumina platform:

Select Databases
Using the 'Select Databases' option from the Quick Search, Advanced Search, and the Command Search screen, the databases selected for searching are now more visibly prominent. In addition, from the search screens, we have added the factsheet links (the ? icon) to each of the selected databases so that you may retrieve information about the database more easily.

Alerts
The Alerts feature now has a 'Manage Personal Profile' feature which allows you to change the email associated with your account, change the password associated with your account, and the option to delete your personal profile.

Inbound Links
Subscribers to full-text journal collections can now create a link to the full-text of an article that is in HTML format. More information on creating inbound links to full-text content can be found on the following page:

Duplicates
An 'Include Duplicates' option is now available on the Save, Print, Email, and Export to RefWorks function. The 'Include Duplicate's option will only show if duplicates are included in the results.

Full Record View
From the full record view, you may perform a lateral search by selecting the descriptor terms and clicking the 'Go' button. The new search using these marked terms now defaults to AND (to narrow), rather than OR (to broaden).

Short Format
For CSA Illumina databases, the short format shows the title, author, source fields, and also an abbreviated abstract. The following databases have additional fields in the short format view:

ERIC now displays the Accession Number, AN=
Aerospace & High Technology Database now displays the Report Number, RP=
NTIS now displays the Report Number, RP= and the Accession Number, AN=

This is an IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT regarding the launch of Emerald’s new
web site for product and service delivery.

Thank you to everyone who helped preview Insight, this has enabled us to
ensure that Insight is ready for launch. We are very pleased to confirm
that the new Emerald website will be launched this week. We apologise for
the short notice but we wish to ensure that the new website is in place
well before the new student intake happens for the majority of our
customers in September.

We intend to resolve the http://www.emeraldinsight.com URL to the new
website later today, but this may take up to 48 hours to propagate across
the Internet.

You will be able to access your subscriptions using your usual
authentication methods. All of your IP address, referring URL, username
and password information has been migrated to the new service. However,
there may be a period of disruption for users of Athens authentication as
we cannot perfectly time the changes Athens need to make to their systems
with the DNS changes required to point www.emeraldinsight.com to the new
service.

All existing URL links into Emerald journals and databases will be
maintained and will be fully operational.

You may access the Admin functionality on the new Insight platform by
using your pre-existing Emerald ID as your username and Manager Password
as your password. If you are unsure of your Emerald ID and Manager
Password, please contact our support helpdesk at
